Understanding the Chakras: What Happens When Energy Stops Flowing
Many ancient traditions describe the body as more than a physical structure.
Beyond muscles, bones, and organs, there is also an energetic dimension. This is where the concept of the chakras comes in.
The main chakras are the Root Chakra, the Sacral Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, the Heart Chakra, the Throat Chakra, the Third Eye Chakra, and the Crown Chakra, although many traditions also speak of additional energy centers.
Each of these chakras is associated with a colour:
- red for the Root Chakra
- orange for the Sacral Chakra
- yellow for the Solar Plexus
- green for the Heart Chakra
- blue for the Throat Chakra
- deep indigo or dark purple for the Third Eye
- violet or white for the Crown Chakra
The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and means wheel or circle.
Chakras are often described as energy centers within the body through which life force moves.
They are believed to regulate physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
When this energy flows freely, we may feel balanced, creative, grounded, and emotionally clear.
When blocked, it may create physical, emotional, or energetic imbalances.
This blockage may reflect an area of life where energy has become stagnant due to stress, fear, emotional wounds, repetitive thought patterns, or prolonged disconnection from the body.
For example, when we live for long periods in survival mode, the lower energy centers related to safety and grounding may become imbalanced.
This can show up as anxiety, fear, insecurity, or a sense of being disconnected from life.
If emotions remain unexpressed, the heart area may begin to feel heavy, closed, or numb.
When we silence our truth for too long, the throat chakra may reflect this through difficulty expressing feelings, boundaries, and needs.
As above, so below.
Spiritual or mental states — the “above” — may manifest in the physical world — the “below.”
For this reason, it is important for our chakras to remain in healthy flow and balance.
Healing begins by becoming aware of where we feel contraction.
Sometimes this awareness comes through stillness, breath, and meditation.
Sometimes it is supported by ritual tools that help us focus our intention and deepen our practice.
Crystals have long been used as energetic companions in this process.
Different crystals are often associated with different chakras and can support intention, meditation, grounding, and energetic awareness.
For example:
- Amethyst is often connected with the Crown and Third Eye chakras, supporting intuition and clarity.
- Rose Quartz is associated with the Heart Chakra and emotional openness.
- Citrine is linked to the Solar Plexus, confidence, and personal power.
- Black Tourmaline and Smoky Quartz are often used for grounding and Root Chakra support.
At Delphi Alchemy, we carefully select crystals that can support your daily rituals, meditation practices, and energy work.
Whether you are looking to ground yourself, open the heart, strengthen your intuition, or restore balance, you can explore our crystal collection and find the stones that resonate with your journey.
